A broken Home button on the iPhone is more common than you would expect. It is the of one the most common hardware issue on the iPhone amongst users. Otherwise, read on to learn 4 easy ways to hard reset your iPhone without the Home button!
1. Wait for battery to die
Without the Home button, you will not be able to use the conventional method of holding the Home and Lock/Power button together to reset the device. One way to reset it is to wait for the battery to completely drain which causes the iPhone to die out.
This might take a few hours to a few days depending on your usage of the phone. Next, connect the iPhone to a power source and it will boot up again when powered, essentially like doing a reset.
2. Restore Network Settings
Doing a restore on network settings will force the iPhone reset itself. However this is not recommended because it wipes out your WiFi and VPN settings and passwords.
To do this go to ‘Settings’ -> Scroll down to locate ‘Reset’ -> press ‘Reset Network Settings’.
(WARNING : DOING THIS WILL RESET ALL YOUR NETWORK/WIFI/VPN/CELLULAR SETTINGS!)
Your phone will reset on its own immediately.
3. Restore Factory Settings
If you find that your phone is problematic, you might want to do a complete Factory Restore altogether. To do this, connect your iPhone to your computer, open iTunes and select your iPhone in the source panel, and your phone details should show up in the Summary tab.
Press ‘Restore’ to restore your iPhone to factory settings. Alternatively, go to ‘Settings’ -> Scroll down to locate ‘Reset’ -> press ‘Reset All Settings’. (WARNING : DOING THIS WILL ERASE ALL SAVED DATA IN YOUR PHONE)
4. Use Assistive Touch Controls (Most POPULAR METHOD!)
While your Home button is fautly, Assistive Touch can help to replace some of the functions through quick buttons on the screen. To turn Assistive Touch on, go to ‘Settings’ -> Accessibility -> scroll down to locate ‘Assistive Touch’
A rounded button should appear on the screen. Press on this, followed by ‘Device’, then press and hold on ‘Lock Screen’. A red bar should appear at the top to allow you to turn off your phone. Slide across to shut down your phone, and power it up again and it will work great as you have just reset it!
