How To – change default web browser for Android

The number of different browsers available to a single mobile device is growing – Chrome, Safari, Dolphin and Flash enabling browsers such as Photon, and many a time we have more than one of these installed on our mobile phones. What happens when we prefer Chrome over the default web browser for Android, but links from emails gets annoyingly opened by the Android Browser?

In this week’s How To series, we will teach you the simple but yet somewhat ‘hidden’ feature to change the default browser on your Android device.


To do this :

1. Open up the Settings menu

2. Go to Applications > Manage Applications

3. Locate your default Browser, scroll down and press on ‘Clear Defaults’

5.  Open a link from outside a browser (eg. from an Email). A window should appear allowing you to choose the browser you want to open the link with

6. Select your preferred browser and press ‘Always’.

and its just that simple!
