How To Uninstall Apps for Android

In this week’s How-To series, we will be showing you how to uninstall apps for Android.

The Android platform is quite a tricky one. Many of our users have been asking, How do you actually uninstall apps for Android? They have tried everything from dragging around all corners in the main screen, pressing and holding on to the icon and hoping that Cross appears for you to delete the app permanently, but there is no such thing!


With a multitude of different features, menu buttons and selections, it is hard to locate something in Android. To quickly and properly delete and uninstall apps for Android device, please follow these steps :


Uninstalling Android apps

The Apps you have installed on your Android Phone or Tablet from the Google Play Store can be easily removed from your device in a few easy steps. If you are concerned that the App was one that you previously paid for, do not worry as you can always reinstall the app without paying for it again.

Uninstalling an app you downloaded

Is there an App on your phone that you want removed, because you no longer have use for it or simply want to free up space in your device? Uninstall this App now with these simple steps :

1. Open up the Menu

2. Look for the Settings icon

3, Press on Applications -> Manage applications (for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, go to Settings -> Apps).


4. Scroll through the list of Apps that is currently installed in your phone, and locate the one that you want to uninstall.

5. Tap on the app that you want to uninstall

6. Tap on ‘Uninstall’.

There is no ‘Uninstall’ button!

If you do not see the ‘Uninstall’ button, it is likely that you see ‘Uninstall updates’ instead. In this case, the App that you are trying to uninstall is likely to be a system app, that is preinstalled together with your Android device. These Apps cannot be uninstalled.

Uninstalling a Pre-installed System App

You will not be allowed to uninstall Apps such as Google Maps and Google Talk, as they are part of the Android operating system. For queries about such apps on your device, please contact your mobile carrier.

Reinstalling apps

You are able reinstall a previously purchased App from the Google Play Store. To do so, access My Apps.

1. Open the Google Play Store (tap on the icon labeled ‘Play Store)

2. Tap the Menu button -> My Apps
