Top 4 Best Tetris Game App for iOS

If we take a peek into the iTunes App store…..

….you can see that there are NO free Tetris games!

If you are willing to part with 99 cents, here are 4 of the apps available, briefly reviewed!

#1. TETRIS by Electronic Arts

The official licensed Tetris game by Electronic Arts (EA), re-imagined with touch controls.

The Good:

  • Nice slick interface
  • Closest thing to the original Tetris experience
  • New touch mode that is fast and responsive

The Bad:

  • Controls too sensitive (downwards slide gets recognized as a downward flick) – drop the brick by accident too often and end up dying!
  • Money-sucking : unlocks are all based on t-coins which are in-app purchases

#2. Pentix

New twist in the classic Tetris game with conventional bricks with touch controls

The Good:

  • Touch controls less sensitive and less prone to accidents than Tetris by EA (A drop is activated by a 2-finger tap)

The Bad:

  • Weird, bizarre looking  5-figured bricks instead of the familiar 4.

#3. Old-Fashioned Bricks

Classic styled tetris with tradtional controls and conventional bricks.

The Good:

  • Multiple skins – classic, new-age etc.
  • Traditional controls (keypad instead of touch controls!!)

The Bad:

  • Unfamiliar 2,3 figure bricks. However not as bizarre as in Pentix

#4. Bricks for Christmas

Christmas edition of Old Fashioned Bricks. Introduces more themes, and able to select between 1-3,5 and 8-figure bricks.

The Good:

  • Identical and similar to Old-Fashioned Bricks

The Bad:

  • New 8-figure bricks are hideous and difficult to play

Trivial : Back in 2008, a free and awesome version of Tetris for the iPhone actually existed, in the form something called Tris. Just when it was doing well, it received an unfortunate call from The Tetris Company (the guys who owned rights to the TETRIS name). Having no financial ability to put up a fight in court, the developer of Tris gave up by taking it down entirely instead.

The Google Play Store on the other hand, is filled with different Tetris Games. Here are 4 of our favorite Tetris game apps.

Classic Brick

The Good:

  • Classic look
  • Classic controls
  • Vibrates when you clear a line (just like in the classic handheld brick game!)

The Bad:

  • Blocks fall too fast when pressing the “down” key

Tetris Classic

The Good:

  • Addition of left and right buttons, on top of touch controls

The Bad:

  • Bricks colorful but looks too ‘cheap’
  • Blocks fall too slowly at the start
  • Ridiculous animation of rows clearing one line at a time
  • The order of bricks is ridiculous at times, same 2 bricks might come out 3 times alternately

Tetris Space

The Good:

  • Clean looking interface
  • Easy to use touch controls

The Bad:

  • Too easy
  • Cannot rotate at edges
  • Cannot make the blocks fall faster – a downward swipe will result in a drop.

  • Nice design
  • Online battle mode

The Bad:

  • Downward swipe to drop blocks is inconsistent, difficult to drop bricks

The Bad:

  • Controls too sensitive (downwards slide gets recognized as a downward flick) – drop the brick by accident too often and end up dying!
  • Money-sucking : unlocks are all based on t-coins which are in-app purchases
